About Our Counselors
Mrs. Lynnette Stallings received her undergraduate degree from Appalachian State University and her Master's in School Counseling from Winthrop University. During the past 33 years, she has worked with Pre-K through high school students. Mrs. Stallings came to Ashe County from Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools and worked at Ashe County High School for four years before coming to Ashe County Middle School in 2011.
Mrs. Julie Jones received her undergraduate degree from Appalachian State University and then later her Master's in School Counseling. Mrs. Jones worked as a social worker in Ashe County for 13 years before beginning work as a school counselor at Ashe County Middle School in 2013.

What Do School Counselors Do?
- Provide individual and small group counseling
- Provide classroom guidance
- Work as a team to help identify student needs
- Make referrals for services to individuals or community agencies
- Create 504 plan
- Consult with teachers, parents, and administration on issues involving students
- Promote positive attitudes and choices
- Coordinate school wide events such as anti-bullying month or Red Ribbon week.
