Registration
Rising 8th Grade:
Registration of current seventh graders (rising 8th) will take place in Spring. Seventh grade parents will receive a form listing possible encore classes their student can take in the eighth grade. Parent signatures will be required on this registration form.
Rising 9th Grade:
Eighth grade students will receive information from high school counselors and students regarding possible electives. Students will choose core classes and electives based on registration information from the high school. Parents will be asked to discuss options with their students and help them make appropriate decisions. Parent signatures will be required on the registration form and any waiver forms that parents may request. There will be additional events held throughout the school year to provide information to parents and students on this transition process.
Rising 7th Grade:
Elementary students will be invited to participate in our "Meet in the Middle" event held each Spring. This is an opportunity for students to visit Ashe County Middle School, do some team building experiences, tour the school, and enjoy light refreshments as they mingle with students from the three elementary schools. Counselors will also visit each elementary school and present a PowerPoint Presentation addressing teaming, school policies/rules, introducing ACMS staff, and answering student questions prior to Meet in the Middle. Elementary students will receive registration information from ACMS including choices of electives. Parent signatures will be required on these registration forms. Also, each Spring, ACMS will host "Middle School 101." This is a night for parents to come to the middle school, learn information about the school and take a tour. Every rising 7th grader also receives a "Middle School Planning Guide" in late winter. This guide is their tour map to middle school and contains very important information. If your student misplaces this guide, you can access it on our webpage under News, Events, and Announcements. Feel free to print a new one. The registration form will come home attached to this planning guide.
